This course allows students to complete a large portion of the classwork online, with in-person evening sessions for hands-on clinical practice once per week.  Graduates from programs without hands-on practice find themselves without necessary skills to operate an EKG machine, draw blood, etc.  With our hands-on skills, graduates will be assured to not only get a job but wow medical professionals with their skills!  Clinical Medical Assistants have various duties depending on the size and specialty of the medical facility. Some common tasks include: taking medical histories, recording vital signs and assisting physicians during examinations. They are often relied upon to collect and prepare laboratory specimens, draw blood, take electrocardiograms, change dressings and assist with minor office surgeries. Areas of study include hematology, sterilization, disinfection, asepsis, diseases, arrhythmias, pharmacology and medication/drugs. The course also covers medical terminology, abbreviations, anatomy and physiology (A&P) through the body systems. Additionally, OSHA, HIPAA Regulations, law, ethics, nutrition, privacy and disaster preparedness are covered. Students will learn in person how to take a patient's blood pressure, EKG's, draw blood, and diabetic testing, vital signs, physical examinations, clinical procedures, urinalysis, and more!  Students are prepared to pass their CCMA & CEHRS certifications through the NHA at the completion of this hybrid program.  Students will graduate well prepared to pass their CCMA exam and enter the `in demand' and growing Medical Field!
