Multi-Skilled Technicians, also called Patient Care Technicians in the tri-state area, are one of the fastest-growing occupations in hospitals. MSTs have various duties in the hospital, including: taking medical histories, recording vital signs, collection and prepare laboratory specimens, change dressings and assist with other modalities as needed. Areas of study include hematology, sterilization, disinfection, asepsis, diseases, arrhythmias, pharmacology and medication/drugs. The course also covers medical terminology, abbreviations, anatomy and physiology (A&P) through the body systems. Additionally, OSHA, HIPAA Regulations, law, ethics, nutrition, privacy and disaster preparedness are covered. Students will learn hands-on how to take a patient's vital signs, EKG, draw bloos, clinical procedures and urinalysis. This course allows students to complete a large portion of the course online, with in-person evening sessions for hands-on clinical practice. Students are prepared to take their CPCT certification through the NHA at the completion of this hybrid program. Students will graduate well prepared to pass their CPCT exam and enter the `in demand' and growing medical field!
