They are often relied upon to collect and prepare laboratory specimens, draw blood, take electrocardiograms, change dressings, assist with minor office surgeries and so much more. This course prepares you to enter positions as Clinical Medical Assistant and Patient Care Technician professionals.

Students will have the option of sitting for 5 national certification exams.  For more information about this program, click here.

Prospective students who have a high school diploma should consider being a Patient Care Technician instead of CNA.  The benefits of working in a hospital are far greater, including higher pay than long term care facilities, tuition reimbursement, full medical benefits, PTO, holidays, bonuses for working extra hours and so much more.  There is also less impact on the body as CNA work requires a lot of lifting and grueling work such as changing adult diapers and bathing residents.

About CNA: According to the US Department of Labor, “employment of nursing aides is projected to grow 17% from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations.  Because of the growing elderly population, many nursing aides will be needed to assist and care for these patients."  Certified Nursing Aides (CNA’s) provide basic patient care in a long-term care facility, under the direction of nursing staff.  Some common tasks include: feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring/transporting patient's, as well as changing linens.  For more information, please call 609-386-6400, x102.
