According to the US Department of Labor, “employment of nursing aides is projected to grow 17 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations.  Because of the growing elderly population, many nursing aides will be needed to assist and care for these patients."  Certified Nursing Aides (CNA’s) provide basic patient care in a long-term care facility, under the direction of nursing staff.  Some common tasks include: feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, transfer/transporting patient's, patients, as well as changing linens.

Components of the program include: legal and ethical issues (including HIPAA), infection prevention, safety and body mechanics, emergency care and disaster preparedness, positioning, transfers and ambulation, basic nursing skills, nutrition and hydration, waste elimination, common chronic and acute conditions, as well as dementia and Alzheimer’s, and much more!

The class consists of 50 hours of classroom theory and 40 hours of direct clinical patient care in a long-term care facility. Students will graduate well prepared to sit for the New Jersey State Competency evaluation and CNA licensure exam.  Included in the cost below is the student’s CPR and AED certification through the American Heart Association, books and materials, a set of scrubs, TB Test, and all NJ state test fees!  Students will graduate well prepared to pass the State of NJ’s exam, and enter the `in demand' and growing medical field!
